One preacher said to me, "Brother Rice, you talk as if the Devil is a person and that he constantly opposes the Gospel and threatens the happiness and useful of Christians and would even take their lives. You act as if the Devil is a constant menace. Why," he said, "the Devil never bothers me that way."
I replied, "If you twisted the Devil's tail as much as I do, if you pulled out of his hand drunkards and harlots and infidels, old men and women as well as young people and children, the Devil would bother you." Ah yes, we ought to be reminded that "the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). And we ought to "put on the whole armour of God," for the constant warfare (Eph. 6:11). - John R. Rice

The charming story of Hannah and how she prayed with such holy concern and devotion for a boy to serve the Lord is told in I Samuel chapter 1. The child was conceived and born in prayer and after she had loved him and trained him and taught him for a season, then she took him to the temple, and said, "As long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord." Oh, we would have more Samuels if we had more Hannahs! - John R. Rice
