II COR. 5:14, 17-21
Reconciliation has two modern uses- (1) reconciling your checkbook and (2) reconciling estranged people. Now God has done nothing wrong and God did all the work to bring us into reconciliation with Himself by Jesus Christ [1 Peter 3:18]. Note:
I. The Work that Jesus did was Essential
-because we are sinners [v. 19]
-because we deserve death [James 1:15, Rm. 6:23, Rev. 20:14, Jn. 3:18]
II. The Work that Jesus did was Extreme [Phil. 2:5ff., 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Cor. 15:1-4, 1 Jn. 2:2, Is. 53:4-7]
III. The Work that Jesus did was Enough [v. 17, Heb. 10:10-14, 1 Pet. 3:18, 1 Jn. 2:1-2, Is. 53:11, Rm. 10:3]
