John R. Rice Quotes of the Week

But how will I know that He has received me?" someone asks. Why, poor foolish man or woman, can you not believe what Jesus said? Do you want any further evidence than the solemn promise of the Son of God? You who will take the word of men about promises to pay, you who honor the signature of men on a check, you who will believe a printed guarantee of a company - are you unwilling to risk the plain promise of the Son of God Himself, written down here in the Bible? - John R. Rice

This is no chameleon that you face when you come to Jesus. It is the unchanging, eternal Son of God, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" (Heb. 13:8). He loves you now, He will love you tomorrow. He gives you life today, but He gives everlasting life for tomorrow and all the tomorrows. He gives you life, but not only that - He gives you ETERNAL life. He will not turn you down immediately when you come, but He said, "I will in NO wise cast out." - John R. Rice

Somebody asks, "Is it wrong to yoke up with unbelievers? I see some who do being blessed." Yes, but you haven't seen the end of the story yet, you know. You follow Lot, and wait till the end. You follow Samson, and wait till the end. You can't tell by first appearance. - John R. Rice

Somebody else asks, "If it is wrong to yoke up with unbelievers, why doesn't God slap them down right now?" Well, would you want God to slap you down the first time you make a mistake, the first time you are wrong? Wouldn't you rather have mercy? Wouldn't you rather God be long-suffering, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy? Wouldn't you rather God would give you a chance, and deal kindly? Oh, the mercy of God, who waits so long before He brings judgment on the child of God who compromises. But God does bring judgment. So it was with Samson. - John R. Rice

Higher education in America was begun under devout fundamental Christian auspices and with Christian culture and aims. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Oberlin, Colgate, University of Chicago and many other universities were founded by fundamental Christians who paid in sacred money, sacrificially given, for the training of Christian workers who believed the Bible. But infidels are like foul cuckoo birds that lay their eggs in Bible believers' nests. They steal the investment and buildings and the clientele of Christian colleges and turn them into infidel factories. They they hate our moral standards and the Bible and the best of the historic Christian faith. - John R. Rice

High school and grade school teachers parrot the teachings of evolution as if all the great questions had been scientifically answered and all the foolish presumptions had been scientifically tested and proven. Of course, that is not true. The unregenerate heart does not want to accept the fact of a God who is Creator but a God who also is Judge. They do not want to take the moral standards of the Ten Commandments and the morality of the Bible. They do not want to face the fact that sinners who do not repent go on to an eternal Hell. So they naturally turn to Marxism and its twin, evolution, part of the atheistic philosophy. - John R. Rice

I call on Christians everywhere to turn with holy commitment away from any public schools where they teach evolution and liberalism, and where the moral standards are low. I call on Christians everywhere not to associate with those who sin radically on a basis that condones sin. Love sinners, yes, but let us not have Christians marrying people nor courting people who live in open, wicked rebellion against God. Love sinners and preach to them and warn them and win them, if we can? Yes, but participate with them in things that encourage sin or make it respectable? No!
America, prepare to meet God! - John R. Rice
