WHY PREACH THE BLOOD?

With all the other things in the world to talk about why would anyone talk about The Blood? Couldn’t we avoid that subject for something less controversial, less grotesque, less politically incorrect? You know, something more upbeat, something more appealing, something more in tune with our enlightened times? We could try, many do… but we won’t! It’s only controversial if you don’t believe the Bible, it’s only grotesque if you haven’t experienced it, and it’s only politically incorrect if you are theologically incorrect. What could be more upbeat than escaping the wages of sin? What could be more appealing than the abundant life coupled with eternal life? And what could be more enlightening than the light shining through the darkness to show the way? Why preach the blood?

I. THE EXAMPLE OF THE APOSTLES!

1. Paul preached it! (Rm. 3:25, 5:9; Eph. 1:7, 2:13; Col. 1:20-22)

2. Peter proclaimed it! (1 Pet. 1:2, 18-19)

3. John taught it! (I Jn. 1:7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

II. IT IS THE EXPRESS MESSAGE OF THE BIBLE

1. Before the Law (Gn. 3:21, 4:4, 8:20, 22:13-14)

2. During the Law (Lev. 17:11)

3. After the Law (Acts 20:28)

III. IT IS THE EXTREME SOLUTION FOR AN EXTREME PROBLEM

1. Bloodless solutions merely multiply rebellion (Gn. 4:3-8, Heb. 11:4, Rm. 10:17)

2. Christ’s Blood is the ONLY solution (Heb. 9:14, 22, 24-28, 10:19, 28-29)

3.  Christ’s Love & His Blood give a song to the saved! (Rev. 1:5-6, 5:9-10)
