WILL YOU OBSERVE TURKEY DAY OR THANKSGIVING?

Yes, It's still 8 days away but the question remains...

WILL YOU OBSERVE TURKEY DAY OR THANKSGIVING?

LUKE 17:12-19

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?

1. Recognize there is a problem [v. 12]

Mk. 2:16-17 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

2. Recognize you cannot deal with your own problem [v. 13]

Rom. 5:6-8 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

3. Recognize the solution must be Biblical [v. 14, Lev. 13-14]

II. WHO CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

1. They sought mercy from a Master [v. 13]

2. They received cleansing from God [v. 14b-15]

3. One man made the connection [v. 16]

Ever notice that Jesus often used a connect the dots to lead people to the truth about Himself? With:

-the woman at the well- Jn. 4

-the rich young ruler- Lk. 18

-Saul of Tarsus- Acts 9

-the disciples- Mt. 16

III. ONE PROBLEM CAN LEAD TO ANOTHER

1. The problem isn't skin, the problem is sin [v. 16-18]

2. The problem isn't God, the problem is man [v. 18, Rm. 1:16-32]

Lk. 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

3. The problem isn't not knowing, it's not doing [v. 19]

Col. 3:15-17 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

II Tm. 3:1-7 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
