THE UNIQUENESS OF JESUS THE CHRIST

1 Timothy 3:16                                  Pastor Rick Jackson

This verse is but a small indication of the uniqueness of the person of Jesus Christ. Among the throngs of humanity Jesus is unique. Among the persons of the Godhead Jesus is unique. There has never been one like Him, there is no one like Him now, and there will never be another like Him. He is unique!

I. JESUS IS UNIQUE IN HIS HUMANITY

1. His Singular Pre-existence [Micah 5:2]

2. His Singular Birth [Is. 7:14, Mt. 1:18-25]

3. His Singular Life [Heb. 4:14-15]

He was born in an obscure village, the son of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village, where he worked in a carpenter's shop until he was thirty. Then for three years he became a wandering preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a house. He didn't go to college. He never visited a big city. He never travelled two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He did none of those things one usually associates with greatness. He had no credentials but himself. He was only thirty-three when the tide of public opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to his enemies and went through a mockery of a trial. He was executed by the state. While he was dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing, the only property he had on earth. When he was dead he was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today he is the central figure of the human race and the leader of mankind's progress. All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man on this earth as much as that One Solitary Life.

II. JESUS IS UNIQUE IN HIS DEITY

1. His Incarnation [1 Tm. 3:16]

2. His Expiration [Mt. 27:50-51, 54; Phil. 2:5-8]

3. His Glorification [Phil. 2:9-11, Jn. 7:39, 12:16, Acts 3:13-15]

III. JESUS IS UNIQUE IN HIS IDENTITY

1. He is Creator [Jn. 1:1-3, 10-14]

2. He is Servant [Is. 42:1-7, 52:13-14, Jn. 10:18]

3. He is Saviour [Is. 43:11, Titus 3:4-6]
