I. THE DESTROYER OF TRUTH [v. 1-6]

 

1. Deception Attempted [v. 1-4]

 

2. Deception Discerned [v. 5, Heb. 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.]

 

3. Deception Exposed [v. 6, 1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing  before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

 

II. THE DESTROYER OF FAMILIES [v. 7-20]

 

1.  God Takes Sin Personally [v. 7-12, Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.]

 

2. God Takes Grace Personally [v. 13, 17-18 “God doesn’t have any grandchildren”]

 

3.  God Deals with Sin Personally & Nationally [v. 14-16, 19-20, Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.]

 

III. THE DESTROYER OF GOVERNMENTS [v. 21-31]

 

1. A Nations Downward Spiral [v. 21-24]

 

2. A Nation’s Sorry Substitute [v. 25-28]

 

3. A Nation’s Inevitable Division [v. 29-31]
