A CITIZEN OF TWO COUNTRIES

A CITIZEN OF TWO COUNTRIES

Philippians 3:20

Pastor Rick Jackson

The Greek word translated “conversation” in this verse is not the same as in most verses using the English word “conversation”. In most of those- the term conversation means “lifestyle”, not so here. The word is politeuma, and means- a community, i.e. citizenship.

I. THE CITIZEN OF A HEAVENLY COUNTRY [Philippians]

1. Behave [1:27-29] – not to be saved, but because you are saved

2. Be Similar [2:2-7]

3. Be Submissive [2:8-17]

II. THE CITIZEN OF AN EARTHLY COUNTRY

1.  Should Pray for Leaders [1 Tm. 2:1-3]

2. Should Pay Taxes [Rom. 13:1-6]

3.  Should Perform Civic Responsibilities {Rom. 13:7]

III. THE KINGDOMS IN CONFLICT

1. A Higher Priority [Acts 5:27-29]

2. A Higher Patriotism [Heb. 11:8-16]
