"I'M SAVED, NOW WHAT?"

ROMANS 6

I. THREE QUESTIONS [V. 1-2]

1. "What shall we say then?" [v. 1a]

Paul's just explained what we have in Christ, undeserved, unable to attain ourselves, all of grace---so he asks, "What shall we say then?" "Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Glory to God. Thank you Jesus." all come to mind. But there's a couple of follow-up questions. Jimmy Johnson told the story of a young man in one of his classes who was asked by the teacher, "What color is our text?" The text was a bright red but the student knew this professor would ask follow-up questions... like, "How do you know?" or "Why?" Questions which demanded the scientific reasons for the eye perceiving the color red, the prismatic refraction of light and such like. The student not knowing the answers or not wanting to go into them looked blankly at the professor who repeated the original question, "What color is our text?" To which the student replied, "I don't know."

Paul has some follow-up questions.

2. "Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?" [v. 1b-2a, 5:20]

The obvious answer is the correct one! NO!

3. "How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" [v. 2b]

II. THREE THINGS TO KNOW [V. 3-10]

1. Know the picture [v. 3-5]

2. Know the principle [v. 6-8]

3. Know the power [v. 9-10]

III. THREE THINGS TO DO [V. 11-22]

1. Count on it! [v. 11] Like an automatic deposit in the bank... count on it being done!

2. Don't yield to sin! [v. 12-13a]

3. Yield to God! [v. 13b-22]
