JESUS ONLY

MARK 9:1-10

In this passage Peter seems to put Moses and Elijah on equal footing with Jesus. In our day others want to elevate different ones (Buddha, Confucious, Moses, Joseph Smith, etc.) to an equal, or even superior, level as Jesus. Others want to pull Jesus down to a lower level but the answer of God the Father concerning Jesus is clear, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. ...And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only." Jesus only. Why Jesus only?

I. BECAUSE NO-ONE ELSE IS GOOD ENOUGH! (HEBREWS 7:26)

1. Holy & Harmless [in character and actions]

2. Undefiled [unsoiled] (Jn. 8:23)

3. Separate from sinners (Is. 59:2)

II. BECAUSE NO-ONE ELSE IS GREAT ENOUGH

1. Because of Who He Is (Col. 2:8-10)

2. Because of what He does (Phil. 3:20)

3. Because of what He can do (Phil. 3:21)

III. BECAUSE NO-ONE ELSE IS GRACIOUS ENOUGH

1. He was willing (Ga. 1:4, 2:20; Eph. 5:25; I Tm. 2:6; Ti. 2:14)

2. He is loving (Jn. 13:34, 15:13)

3. He was selfless (Phil. 2:5-8)
