PSALM 121:5
Pastor Rick

I. THE
HILLS THAT REMIND [v. 1]
1. Sinai
reminds us of the Law [Nehemiah 9:13, Gal. 4:21-25]
- Thou
camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and
gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
- Tell me,
ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written,
that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But
he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman
was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants;
the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For
this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is,
and is in bondage with her children.
2. Jerusalem
reminds us of the Promise [Gal. 4:26-28]
But
Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is
written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that
travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an
husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
3. Calvary
reminds us of Grace [Luke 23:33]
And when
they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him,
and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
II. THE
HELP THAT REMOVES [v. 2-6] The Help that comes from the Creator removes:
1. Instability [v. 2-3, 2 Thessalonians 3:3]
But the Lord
is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.]
2. Uneasiness [v. 4, Philippians 4:7]
And the
peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.
3. Insecurity [v. 5-6, John 17:11]
Holy Father,
keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me…
III. THE
HOPE THAT REMAINS [v. 7-8]
1.
Preservation from Satan [v. 7a, John 17:15]
I pray not
that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep
them from the evil.
2.
Preservation of the Soul [v. 7b, Jude 1:24, 2 Timothy 1:12, 1 Peter 1:5]
-Now unto
him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before
the presence of his glory with exceeding Joy
-I know whom
I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have
committed unto him against that day.
-Who are
kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time.
3.
Preservation Forever [v. 8, 2 Timothy 4:18]
