THE MOTHER GOD HONORS

1 Samuel 2:30

Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, . . . them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

I. GOD HONORS THE DEVOTED MOTHER [Elisabeth]

 

1. She was a Disciple [Lk. 1:5-6, Acts 9:36]

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did..

 

2. She Was a Discerner [Lk. 1:39-45, Hebrews 5:14]

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

 

3. She was Determined [Lk. 1:57-63, 1 Corinthians 2:2]

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

 

II. GOD HONORS THE FAITHFUL MOTHERS [Lois and Eunice]

 

1. Their Faith was Known [2 Tm. 1:1-5]

 

2. Their Faith was Real [2 Tm. 1:5]

 

3. Their Faith was Shared [2 Tm. 1:5, 3:15]

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

 

III. GOD HONORS THE ENCOURAGING MOTHER [Mary, the mother of John Mark]

 

1. She Encouraged Faithfulness [Acts 12:12]

 

2. She Encouraged Prayerfulness [Acts 12:12]

 

3. She Encouraged Service [Acts 12:25]
