ONLY THE LORD

ROMANS 10:8-13

I. THE OFFER ONLY THE LORD CAN TRULY MAKE – “WHOSOEVER”

 

1. Only Christ has the Power [John 14:6] “I am the Way”

 

2. Only Christ has the Knowledge [John 14:6] “I am the Way, the Truth”

 

3. Only Christ has the Capacity [John 14:6]    to exclude no-one

 

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way , the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

 

II. THE OPTION ONLY THE LORD OFFERS – “CALL”

 

1. “Call” Indicates Distance [Is. 59:2, Eph. 2:13] But your iniquities have separated between you and your God

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

 

2. “Call” Indicates Danger [Matthew 5:21-22]

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

 

3. “Call” Indicates Desire [Rm. 10:8-13]

 

III. THE OMNIPOTENCE ONLY THE LORD POSSESSES – “THE NAME OF THE LORD”

 

1. No Other but He Can Save You [Acts 4:12

 

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

 

2. No Offering but His Can Save You [1 Tm. 2:3-6]

 

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

 

IV. THE OUTCOME ONLY THE LORD PROVIDES – “SHALL BE SAVED”

 

1. An Instant Salvation [Rm. 5:1] Not “in Heaven at the last” but NOW

 

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

1 John 3:2-3 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

 

2. An Everlasting Salvation [John 3:16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you , He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
