THE END OF JOB

THE END OF JOB

JOB 41-42

Pastor Rick Jackson

When we call this message, “THE END OF JOB,” we mean the book – not the person. Job himself explains why it is not the end of Job the man in 19:25-27, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.”

The book of Job is true history, but God often uses true history as examples and lessons to us. With that in mind let us look at 3 great pictures in THE END OF JOB.

I. LEVIATHAN - BY MAN UNMASTERED [41:1-34, Is. 14, Ez. 28] Man cannot conquer Satan, sin or even self

1. Untamable by Men [v. 1-9]

2. Undefeatable Save By God [v. 10-11]

3. Unmanageable by Men [v. 12-34]

II. JOB – BY MAN UNMOVED [42:1-6] only God can reach the heart

1. His Consideration [v. 1-2]

2. His Confession [v. 3-4]

3. His Contrast [v. 5-6, James 5:11]

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

III. BLESSINGS – BY MAN UNDESERVED [42:7-17]

1. Rebukes [v. 7-8, Hebrews 12:5-6]

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

2. Forgiveness [v. 9-10, Hebrews 10:4-10]

For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

3. Blessings [v. 11-17, Eph. 2]

1 Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
