THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE HOLY BIBLE & THE HOLY OBLIGATION

1 PETER 1:10-22

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. THE HOLY MEN & INSPIRATION [v. 10-12]

1. Their Words were Beyond Them [v. 10] i.e., beyond their understanding

2. Their Words were Beyond Time [v. 11, Is. 46:9-10]

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

3. Their Words were Beyond Themselves [v. 12] i.e., written for others as well

II. THE HOLY SPIRIT & INSPIRATION [v. 10-12, 2 Peter 1:19-21]

1. The Holy Spirit is the Author of the Message [v. 10-11]

2. The Holy Spirit is the Instigator of the Message [v. 10-11]

3. The Holy Spirit is the Empowerer of the Message [v. 12, 2 Peter 1:19-21]

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

III. THE HOLY SPIRIT & CHRISTIANS [v. 12-22]

1. The Holy Spirit had an Integral Part in Our Salvation [v. 12]

2. The Holy Spirit has an Integral Part in Our Sanctification [v. 13-16]

3. The Holy Spirit is an Integral Part of the Trinity [v. 17-22]
