[“If”
Series #5]
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. IF GOD IS YOUR GOD
WHY WORRY? [Matthew 6:30]
Wherefore, if God
so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into
the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
II. IF GOD IS YOUR
FATHER YOU WILL LOVE JESUS [John 8:42]
Jesus said unto them, If
God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from
God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
III. IF GOD IS YOUR GOD
MAKE YOUR PLANS WITH HIM IN MIND. [Acts 18:21, 1 Cor. 4:19, 16:7; Heb.
6:1-3, James 4:15]
-But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep
this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from
Ephesus.
-But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will...
-For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry
a while with you, if the Lord
permit.
- Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of
Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of
repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of
baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of
eternal judgment. And this will we do, if
God permit.
-For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that
IV. IF GOD BE FOR US WHY
FEAR ANYONE, OR ANYTHING, ELSE? [Romans 8:31]
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
V. IF GOD BE GOD WHY
COMPLAIN ABOUT HIS TIMETABLE? [Romans 9:22]
What if God,
willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much
longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
VI. IF GOD BE GOD UNDERSTAND
HE WILL DEAL WITH THE LACK OF FAITH [Romans 11:18-27]
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou
bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were
broken off, that I might be grafted in. Well; because of unbelief they were
broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches,
take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and
severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if
thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. And they
also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able
to graft them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is
wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how
much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own
olive tree? For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this
mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is
happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all
Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the
Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant
unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
VII. IF GOD IS
WILLING TO SAVE, WE SHOULD BE WILLING TO WITNESS [2 Timothy 2:25]
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God
peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
VIII. IF GOD BE GOD, HE
WILL JUDGE THE WICKED [2 Peter 2:1-9]
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as
there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable
heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves
swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of
whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall
they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long
time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that
sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness,
to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the
eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the
world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes
condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after
should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation
of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing,
vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord
knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust
unto the day of judgment to be punished:
IX. IF GOD IS OUR GOD
WE OUGHT TO LOVE OTHERS AS GOD LOVES US [1 John 4:11]
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one
another.
