"What is Your Nickname?"

Acts 4:32-37
Evangelist Matt Downs
Barnabas is a nickname that means "encourage." To encourage means to "put courage in." To make it easier for people to do right. Don't be a Murphy's Law type person, a discourager.
How did Joe get the nickname "Barnabas"?
1. He was always doing right [v. 32]
v. 32 unity, v. 33 power, v. 34 blessed of God
Grace in the Christians' life is the power and ability to do right. Barnabas would follow through (unlike Annanias and Sapphira in Acts 5)
2. He was always telling others to do right [Acts 11:19-26].
He rejoiced over sinners that were saved [v. 21-23]] and taught them the Word of God [v. 26]
3. By getting others involved in ministry [Acts 9:26-27, 11:25-26]
We all can't be a Paul - but we all can be a Barnabas!
