HOW’S YOUR FERVENCY?

There is a tendency among Christians to think, “I may not be on fire for Jesus but I’m not as bad as others.” But God is not looking for lukewarmness in His children. God wants His children to have fervency about them. So he says in verse 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent!             

 

So what is God looking for? God wants those of us to know Him to:

 

I. BRING THE HEAT!

 

1. Even as we are Growing [Acts 18:25 “zeo” to be hot, boil]

 

2. Even in our Daily Walk [Rm. 12:11]

 

3. Even in how we think of His servants [2 Cor. 7:7 “zelos” heat] 7:11, 9:2, 11:2

 

II. KEEP AT IT!

 

1. Keep your Love Pure & Powerful! [1 Pet. 1:22 ektenos- intently:--fervently]

 

2. Keep Loving the Brethren [1 Pet. 4:8]

 

3. Keep Praying for the Leaders [Acts 12:5]

 

III. FIGHT THE BATTLE!

 

1. Effectual in Prayer [James 5:16 energeo- to be active, efficient]

 

2. Agonize in Prayer [Col. 4:12 agonizomai]

 

3. Remember the Battle! [1 Timothy 6:12, 2 Timothy 4:7 agonizomai]
