Just this last week two dear friends, both Christians, both undergoing some difficult times asked a familiar question which can be phrased many ways, "Why Me?" "What did I do to deserve this?" "Why is God punishing me?"
And just as the Bible assures us that sometimes our situation is a result of our actions, be they sins(I Cor. 11) or just foolishness (like eating too many green apples) that is NOT the topic of this particular blog. Maybe another blog, another time.
The Bible also teaches that sometimes bad things happen even when you haven't done anything wrong! Paul in the Philippian jail, Joseph in the Egyptian prison, Jesus on the cross... do you see a pattern developing here? If not, read the book of Job twice and if you still don't get this truth... that you can suffer when you haven't done wrong... then call me in the morning. Sometimes people suffer through no fault of their own. We live in a sin cursed world. This is not the world as God made it. God made it perfect. Man messed it up with sin. This is not Heaven. It is not perfect. This is not the reign of Christ on earth. This is the age of the Gentiles and its going to get worse before it gets better.
People are sinners. Even Christians still have their sin natures. Look around. Look at the newspaper. Look at the TV. Look in the mirror. Why? Because. That's why! Rm. 8, Gen. 3, Rev. 19-21

I like that: read Job twice and call me in the morning.
Keep up the work
