GENESIS 18
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. THE RESPONSE OF FAITH [v. 1-10]
1. The Lord Deserves Honor [v. 1-5]
2. The Lord Deserves Haste [v. 6-7, 2]
1 Samuel 21:8 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.
3. The Lord Deserves Hearing [v. 8-10]
II. THE RESPONSE OF THE FLESH [v. 11-15]
It is very likely that Sarah didn't realize who her visitors were, hence the lack of faith on her part and the lack of strong rebuke on the Lord's part. The Lord's knowledge seems to have impressed Sarah.
1. God Knows Our Health [v. 11]
2. God Knows our Heart [v. 12]
3. God knows our heaviness [v. 13-15]
Psalm 103:13-14 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
In the end Sarah seems convinced and God seems pleased with her.
Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
III. THE RESPONSE OF THE FAITHFUL [v. 16-33]
1. Know God's Way [v. 16-22]
2. Know God's Will [v. 23-32]
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
3. Know God's Word [v. 32-33]
Psalm 7:11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
