TITANIC MISTAKES

Pastor Rick Jackson

Hebrews 12:25

I. IT IS A TITANIC MISTAKE FOR AN UNSAVED PERSON TO NEGLECT SALVATION [Hebrews 2:3]

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

1. The Mistake of Ignoring Warnings [Proverbs 29:1]

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

2. The Mistake of Unjustified Security [1 Thessalonians 5:3]

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

3. The Mistake of Wrong Decisions [Luke 18, Hebrews 10:4]

For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins

II. IT IS A TITANIC MISTAKE FOR A SAVED PERSON TO LIVE LIKE THEY ARE NOT

1. The Mistake of a Wasted Life [Mark 8:35]

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

2. The Mistake of a Weary Life [Jeremiah 12:5]

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?
Hebrews 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

3. The Mistake of a Watchless Life [Matthew 24:42]

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Matthew 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Revelation 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

III. IT IS A TITANIC MISTAKE TO NOT START NOW

1. Tomorrow is Not Guaranteed [Proverbs 27:1]

Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

2. Today is the Acceptable Time [2 Corinthians 6:2]

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

3. Later May Not Be an Option [1 John 2:28]

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
