I. THE CONFIDENCE OF A RELATIONSHIP

1. Be Confident You Are God’s Child

[2:28-3:2, 4:13-15, 5:11-13]

2. Be Confident He is Coming Again [2:28, 3:2]

3. Be Confident You Are Right with Him [2:28, 1:6-9]

 

II. THE CONFIDENCE OF CHRIST’S RETURN

1. We Don’t Know the Time [2:28, Mt. 24:36, 25:13]

-But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

- Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

2. We Know the Event [2:28, 1 Th. 4:16-17]

-He shall appear

-For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

3. We Know the Person [2:28, Acts 1:11]

- Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

 

III. THE CONFIDENCE OF REACTION

1. We Can Have Confidence [2:28, 3:21, 4:17, 5:14]

2. We Can Be Ashamed [2:28]

3. We Can Please Him [2:28, 2 Tm. 2:4, Heb. 11:6]
