MAKE IT A BLESSED THANKSGIVING

Pastor Rick Jackson

Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful

I. THREE THANKSGIVING ACTIONS [Psalm 100]

1. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD [v. 1-2]

2. Serve the LORD with gladness [v. 2-3]

3. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving [v. 4-5]

II. THREE THANKSGIVING TRAGEDIES [Rm. 1:21]

1. They knew God but Glorified Him Not

2. They were Not Thankful

3. They Became Vain and Foolish

III. THREE THANKSGIVING IMPERATIVES FOR CHRISTIANS [Col. 3:12-17]

1. Clothe Yourself with Attributes of Christ [v. 12-14]

2. Let God Rule in a Thankful Heart [v. 15]

3. Let God’s Word Overflow All You Are and Glorify Him [v. 16-17]

WHY STUDY THE BIBLE

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. - Jesus

Pastor Rick Jackson

Abraham Lincoln said, “I believe the BIBLE is the best gift God has ever given to man.  All the good of the Savior of the world is communicated to us through the Book.”

" God’s Word is as good as He is.  There is an old saying that a man is as good as his word.

Well, God is as good as His Word.  His character is behind what He has said." - J. Vernon McGee

When the poet and novelist, Sir Walter Scott, lay dying, he said to his son-in-law, Lockhart, "Son, please bring me the Book." Uncertain because Walter Scott had a large library, he replied, "Sir, which book?” The dying saint answered immediately, "My son, there is just one Book.  Bring me the Book."  At once Lockhart went to the library and returned with Sir Walter's BIBLE

"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the BIBLE" –  George Washington

John Wesley said, "This Book (the BIBLE)  had to be written by one of three people:  good men, bad men or God.  It couldn't have been written by good men because they said it was inspired by the revelation of God.  Good men don't lie and deceive. It couldn't have been written by  bad men because bad men would not write something that would condemn themselves. It leaves only one conclusion.  It was given by divine inspiration of God "

We rightly make a big deal of the Bible. We encourage people to read the Bible and to study the Bible. Why should we study a book that is 1900 years old in its youngest parts and probably 2000 years older than that in its oldest part? Besides the fact that it is more up-to-date than tomorrow’s newspaper, more relevant than todays’ headlines, and more important than any other document on earth- why should we study the Bible?

The Word of God  gives 7 reasons we should STUDY THE BIBLE in 2 Timothy 2.

I. It is Profitable [2:14, 3:16]

II. It is Commanded [2:15a]

III. To Be Approved by God [2:15, Eph. 5:10] Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

IV. To Be a Worker instead of a Shirker [2:15, 1 Pet. 3:15]

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

V. To Not Be Ashamed [2:15, 1 Jn. 2:28]

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

VI. To Rightly Understand the Bible [2:15, Heb. 4:12]

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

VII. To Avoid False Teachings & Related Sins [2:16-19, 3:4-7, 2 Jn. 9-11]

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

ISAAC’S 4000-YEAR-OLD CHRISTMAS QUESTION

GENESIS 22:1-19

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. THE QUESTION SHOWS THE CAUSE OF CHRISTMAS [Gen. 22]

1. The Pertinent Question [v. 1-7]

2. The Prophetic Response [v. 8]

3. The Provision Realized [v. 9-14] Jehovah will see to it, Jehovah provides

II. THE QUESTION SHOWS THE CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS [John 8]

1. Abraham’s Children [v. 33-39]

2. God’s Children [v. 45-55, Mark 12:26-27]

And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

3. Joy’s Children [v. 56, Gn. 22:14]

And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

III. THE QUESTION SHOWS THE CONTINUATION OF CHRISTMAS – Where is the Lamb?

1. The Lamb’s Presentation [John 1:29-36]

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

2. The Lamb’s Passion [1 Cor. 5:7]

For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

3. The Lamb’s Praise [Rev. 5:6-14]

ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES

ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES

1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-8

Pastor Rick Jackson

There are a lot of foolish people in the world, slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Anyone who denies the Bible is the Word of God, that Christ is the God of the Word is either woefully ignorant or willfully arrogant. One of the most powerful examples of the veracity of the Scriptures is the vicarious death of the Lord Jesus Christ and His subsequent victorious resurrection. Note with me that, concerning the death of Christ;

I. WHAT WAS NOT DONE WAS NOT DONE ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE [1 Cor. 15:3-4]

1. Christ did Not Die anywhere but the Cross of Calvary

[Dt. 21:22-23, Gal. 3:13, Mt. 26:38, Ph. 2:8, Heb. 5:7]

- And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

- Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

- And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross

- Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

- Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

2. Christ Died but His Disciples Escaped [Zechariah 13:7, Matthew 26:31]

- Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

- Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

3. Christ’s Bones were Not Broken [Num. 9:12, Ps. 34:20, John 19:31-36]

- They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.

- He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

- The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

II. WHAT WAS DONE WAS DONE ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE [1 Cor. 15:3-4]

Understand that many more Scriptures were fulfilled on that day alone but we are only pointing out a few.

1. According to Matthew 27:9-10, 35

-Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

- And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

2. According to Mk. 15:27-28

- And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

3. According to John 19:23-24, 28, 36-37

- Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

- After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

- For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

III. WHAT WAS “WITHOUT” WAS “WITHOUT” ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE [1 Cor. 15:3-4]

 1. They Hated Christ “Without” A Cause [Ps. 69:4, John 15:23-25]

- They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

- He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

2. Christ is the Lamb Without Blemish [Ex. 12:5, 1 Peter 1:18-19]

- Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

- Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

3. Without Christ’s Blood there is No Remission of Sin [Lev. 17:11, Heb. 9:11-22]

- For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

THREE GREAT BIBLE JUDGMENTS

THREE GREAT BIBLE JUDGMENTS (Of 6)

Pastor Rick Jackson

We are studying the 6 Great Bible Judgments. We have covered  The Believer’s Sin and the Believer’s Service. Tonight, Lord willing, we will cover 3 of the other 4. The Judgment of Israel, the Judgment of Gentile Nations, and the Judgment of Angels.

I. THE NATION OF ISRAEL AT THE TRIBULATION TIME

1. A Time of Regathering [Jer. 30:1-11]

2. A Time of Purging [Ezek. 20:30-44]

3. A Time of Repentance [Ezek. 39:17-29, Zech. 14:2-4; 12:1-14]

II. THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH [REV. 19:11-16, MT. 25:31-34]

More aptly called “the judgment on the Gentiles.” This determines who, of the Gentiles, will enter the millennium in their natural bodies for 1000 years of peace on Earth.

1. The Judgment Time - after Israel’s Judgment & Before the Millennium [Joel 3:1-2, Mt. 25:34]

- For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead [like a lawyer pleading his case] with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

- Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

2. The Judgment Place - the valley of Jehoshaphat (Jehovah Judges) [Joel 3:2, Zech. 14:4]

And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

3. The Judgment Subjects [Mt. 25:32 nations= ethnos, a race, specially, a foreign (non-Jewish) one --Gentile, heathen, nation, people.

And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

4. The Judgment Basis & Results [Mt. 25:40, 45, Joel 3:2, Rev. 7:9-17]

- And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

-Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

- I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Saved or Lost by choice- what did they choose to do with Christ?  [Mt. 24:14-15, 25:46, 31-33]

Saved by Grace, Rewarded for Service [v. 41-46]

Lost by Choice, Condemned by Actions [v. 41-46]

III. THE JUDGEMENT OF FALLEN ANGELS [Rev. 20]

1. The Time - before the Great White Throne Judgment [Rev. 20:10-11]

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

2. The Subjects  [2 Pet. 2:4, Jude 6, 1 Cor. 6:3]

-For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

- And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

NOTE: similar to Christians going “Home” early [1 Cor. 11:30-32]

-Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

3. The Basis & Result [Ez. 28:12-19, Rev. 12:3-4, 20:10]

- And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

- And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

GOD’S QUESTIONS, GOD’S ANSWER

GENESIS 3:1-9

Pastor Rick Jackson

Just a reminder that God does not ask questions out of ignorance. God already knows the answer. God wants us to think, to learn, to realize, to accept, to grow.

I. WHERE ART THOU? [v. 9]

1. Mankind has been Separated from God [v. 7-9]

2. Mankind has been Separated from God because of Sin [v.  Is. 59:2]

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

3. Mankind has a Sin Problem that he (Mankind) Cannot Solve [v. 7-10, Rev. 6:12-17,  Ps. 139:7-12]

II. WHO TOLD THEE? [v. 10-13] Who are You Listening to?

1. Are You Listening to The Voice of Deceived People? [v. 12, Proverbs 14:12]

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

2. Are You Listening to The Voice of Demonic Personages? [v. 13, 1 Timothy 4:1]

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

3. Are You Listening to The Voice of God? [Heb. 11:6, Acts 22:12-15]

And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

III. WHAT IS THIS THAT THOU HAST DONE? [v. 13]

1. Sin has Consequences [v. 16-20, 22-24, Rm. 5:12-14]

2. Sin Must be Acknowledged [v. 9-13]

3. Christ and His Work Must be Accepted [v. 14-15, 21; Rm. 5:15-21]

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GREAT TRUTHS

PSALM 19:1-7

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. CREATION DECLARES THE GLORY OF GOD [v. 1-6]

1. There is a God [Gn. 1:1, Ps. 53:1, Heb. 11:6]

- In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

-The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.

- But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

2. You are Not Him [1 Samuel 2:2, Isaiah 45:21, Acts 12:21-23]

-There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

-Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

-And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

3. Jesus is God [Jn. 1, Col. 1, Phil. 2, Is. 9:6]

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

II. THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD [Ps. 19:7ff]

1. It Should Be Our First Resort [Acts 17:11-12]

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed;

2. It Should Be Our Full Resort [2 Tm. 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21]

-And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

-We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

3. It Should Be Our Final Resort [Mark 12:24]

And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

III. BELIEVERS ARE REDEEMED [Ps. 107:2]

Spurgeon said, “Never forget the three Whats. First, What from? Secondly, What by? And, thirdly, What to?”

1. What from? Believers are redeemed from Satan, hell and destruction. [Ps. 107:2, Rm. 6:23, Rev. 20:14, Gal. 3:13]

- Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

-For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

-Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

2. What by? By the precious blood of Christ. [1 Peter 1:18-21]

- Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

3. What to? To an inheritance, incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away. [1 Peter 1:3-5]

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

THE JUDGMENT OF THE BELIEVER'S SERVICE [2]

Pastor Rick Jackson

THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST :

I. DEALS WITH PREPPING  [ROMANS 14]

1. Focus on Christ [v. 1-9]

2. Focus on Self [v. 10]

3. Focus on Pleasing Him [v. 11-13]

III. WILL CAUSE TEARS IN HEAVEN

1. Tears of shame [1 John 2:28]

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

2. Tears of loss [1 Cor. 3:10-15]

3. Tears of Terror [2 Cor. 5:10-11]

Thank God, after the millennium God will wipe away ALL tears. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

III. PROVIDES CROWNS FOR CHRIST

At the "Judgment Seat" we will be given "crowns" as rewards:

1. The Crown of Mastery [1 Cor. 9:25-27]

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things . Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means , when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

2. The Crown of Witness [1 Th. 2:19]

For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

3. For not yielding to temptation [James 1:12]

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried , he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

4. The Crown of Faithful Pastors  [1 Pt. 5:1, 4]

-The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

-And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

5. The Crown for Loving His Return [2 Tm. 4:8]

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

We will then take these crowns to the throne, where Jesus is seated, and we cast them at the feet of Jesus in thanksgiving for what He has, is, and will do for us [Rev. 4:10-11]

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

WE ARE IN CHRIST AND NOT SUBJECT TO THAT

ROMANS 8

Pastor Rick Jackson

Not subject to that? What’s “that”? That is the subject of the chapter and of the message. D.L. Moody said he thought the three greatest chapters God had Paul write were 1 Corinthians 13  the Love Chapter, 1 Corinthians 15 – the Resurrection Chapter, and Romans 8 which opens with “No condemnation” and closes with no separation.

 I. IN CHRIST WE ARE NOT SUBJECT TO CONDEMNATION [v. 1-17]

1. We are Free in Christ

[the condemned man is not free] [v. 1-3, 10]

2. We are Free in the Spirit [v. 4-13]

3. We are Free in God’s Family [v. 14-17]

II. IN CHRIST WE ARE NOT SUBJECT TO ETERNAL CORRUPTION [v. 18-28]

1. We Shall Be Delivered [v. 18-25]

2. We Are Being Helped [v. 26-27]

3. We Know God is Working on Our Behalf [v. 28]

III. IN CHRIST WE ARE NOT SUBJECT TO SEPARATION [v. 29-39]

1. God is for Us [v. 29-32]

2. Christ Intercedes for Us [v. 33-35]

3. God’s Love Inexhaustibly Keeps Us [v. 36-39]

IGNORANCE AIN’T BLISS

JOHN 8:32     And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. WE CAN KNOW

1. We Can Know We are Sinners [Romans 3:19, 7:14]

-Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

-For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

2. We Can Know the Bible Plan for Us [1 Timothy 1:8]

- But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

3. We Can Know the Fragility of Our Existence [Romans 8:22]

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

II. YOU CAN KNOW

1. You Can Know the Saviour [John 14:11-14]

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

2. You Can Know You are Saved [1 John 5:13]

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

3. You Can Know Why You are Saved and Secure [2 Timothy 1:12, 1 John 5:20]

-For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

-And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

III. WE OUGHT TO KNOW

1. We Ought to Know to Grow [1 Corinthians 2:12, Philippians 3:10]

-Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

2. We Ought to Know How to Behave [2 Th. 3:7, 1 Tm. 3:15, 1 Cor. 8]

- For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

-But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

3. We Ought to Know How to Pray [1 Jn. 5:13-15]

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
