I. JESUS’S DIVINE
APPOINTMENTS
1. Jesus’ Incarnation was a Divine Appointment [Heb. 10:5,
Gal. 4:4]
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth
his Son, made of a woman, made under the law
2. Jesus’ Vicarious Death was a Divine Appointment [Heb.
10:6-10]
3. Jesus’ Victorious Return is a Divine Appointment [Heb. 9:23-28]
II. YOU HAVE A DIVINE
APPOINTMENT WITH DEATH [Heb. 9:27]
1. By Virtue of Your Ancestry [Rm. 5:12]
2. By Virtue of Your Actions [Rm. 3:23, 6:23; Ezekiel 18:4,
20]
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so
also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear
the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the
son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness
of the wicked shall be upon him.
3. By Virtue of Your Arrogance [Isaiah 13:11, 14:11]
And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked
for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and
will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy
viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
III. YOU HAVE A
DIVINE APPOINTMENT WITH JUDGMENT [Heb. 9:27]
1. For Unrepentant Sinners [Heb. 10:27, Rev. 20:11-15]
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from
whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for
them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were
opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead
were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to
their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell
delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man
according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of
life was cast into the lake of fire.
2. For the Christian’s Behavior [1 Peter 4:14-19]
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye;
for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil
spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a
murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's
matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let
him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin
at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them
that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where
shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer
according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well
doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
3. For the Christian’s Service [2 Corinthians 5:10]
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;
that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he
hath done, whether it be good or bad.
