I. WHAT IS FORGIVENESS? [Is. 44:22, Heb. 8:12]
Forgiveness is the decision not to hold the offense to the person's account- therefore, it is not brought up again.
II. WHY FORGIVE?
1. We are Commanded to Forgive [Lk. 17, Col. 3:12-13, Eph. 6]
2. There are Consequences to Unforgiveness [Eph. 6:31]
Unforgiveness enslaves the person who has it.
3. How do we Forgive? [Eph. 4:32] the basis- how Christ forgave you
1) Willingly [v. 32] as God forgave you
2) Continually [I Jn. 1:9]
3) Completely [I Jn. 1:9, Micah 7:19, Ps. 103:10-12]
