PSALM 121                                                                 Pastor Rick Jackson

 

I. THE HILLS THAT REMIND [v. 1]

 

1. Sinai reminds us of the Law [Nehemiah 9:13, Gal. 4:21-25]

 

2. Jerusalem reminds us of the Promise [Gal. 4:26-28]

 

3. Calvary reminds us of Grace [Luke 23:33]

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

 

II. THE HELP THAT REMOVES [v. 2-6] The Help that comes from the Creator removes:

 

1.  Instability [v. 2-3, 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.]

 

2.  Uneasiness [v. 4, Philippians 4:7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

 

3.  Insecurity [v. 5-6, John 17:11 Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me…]

 

III. THE HOPE THAT REMAINS [v. 7-8]

1. Preservation from Satan [v. 7a, John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.]

 

2. Preservation of the Soul [v. 7b, Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 2 Timothy 1:12, 1 Peter 1:5]

 

3. Preservation Forever [v. 8, 2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
