I. THE FOOLISH WISE MAN [v. 1-8]

 

1. Fooled by the World [v. 1-2, 1 John 2:15]

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

 

2. Fooled by the Flesh [v. 2c-4a, Galatians 5:17]

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

 

3. Fooled by the Devil [v. 4-8, Psalm 106:37, 1 Corinthians 10:19-20]

 

II. THE MAGNITUDE OF HIS FOLLY [v. 8-13]

 

1.  Forsaking the God which had Appeared unto Him [v. 8-9] foolish to use this to say God approves polygamy

 

2. Forsaking the Word of God [v. 10]

 

3.  Forsaking the Opportunity to Repent [v. 11-13]

 

III. THE FRUIT OF HIS FOLLY [v. 14-43]

 

1. The Mischief of Hadad [v. 14-22]
