IN SPIRIT & IN TRUTH

JOHN 4:20-26

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. THE RIGHT PLACE [v. 20-24 the heart]

II. THE RIGHT PERSON(S) [v. 21-26, 9:35-41]

III. THE RIGHT PREPARATION [v. 22-24, 8:32, 14:6]

IV. THE RIGHT PATTERN [v. 24-26, 17:17]

Someone says, “it doesn’t matter how you worship as long as you worship.”  Really? If I order a pepperoni pizza and the guy brings me an anchovy pizza that’s bad enough. But when he wants me to accept it, pay for it and like it I ‘ll be like, “Naw. I don’t think so Jack!” Guess it’s true, you can’t fix stupid.

It didn’t work for Cain [Gn. 4:3-7, Heb. 11:4], nor Aaron & Israel [Ex. 32:1-8].

V. THE RIGHT PROMPTER [v. 22-24, 1 Cor. 6:17-20, Rm. 8:9, 12:11]

VI. THE RIGHT POSITION [v. 20-24]

The Greek word translated WORSHIP is proskunevw  proskuneo,  pros-koo-neh'-o;  from 4314 and a probable derivative of 2965 (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore):--worship.

Not the position of pride [Lev. 10:1-2, 1 Sm. 13:8-14, Mt. 15:1-9, Mal. 1:6-14, 3:13-15, 4:1-6]
