PSALM 139
Pastor Rick Jackson
The Bible truths we will be looking at may be considered simple on one level and yet profound on another. The Bible as a whole, and for today this Psalm in particular, is profound in its simplicity while at the same time it is simple in its profundity. A child or baby Christian can read the Bible with great blessing but the seasoned saint after searching the Scriptures for scores of years still finds it fresh and discovers golden truths within its pages. The Scripture stands as one of the two greatest co-operative works of God and man. The other great work is the Word Incarnate, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
I. GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING! [v. 1-4]
1. Our Past [v. 1]
2. Our Present [v. 2]
3. Our Path [v. 3]
4. Our Future [v. 4]
II. GOD IS EVERYWHERE! [v. 5-12]
God it there for His children.
1. Despite Our Bafflement - He's All Around Me [v. 5-6]
2. For Our Benefit - He's Everywhere We Could Go [v. 7-10]
3. For Our Betterment - He's Aware of Our Every Move [v. 11-12]
III. GOD HAS A PLAN FOR OUR LIVES [v. 13-24]
1. God Knows Each Individual's Limits & Capabilities [v. 13-16]
Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Ex. 4:10-12 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
2. God Knows His Way is the Right Way & the Best Way [v. 17-20]
Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
3. God Knows Us- We Need To Know Him and His Ways! [v. 21-24]
