Q: Did Noah’s Flood cover the whole earth?

A: There are many Christians who have been led to believe that Noah’s Flood was just local. This is because they’ve been indoctrinated by secular scientists and even theologians into the belief that the fossil record is millions of years old—and not a record of the global Flood. But the Bible gives a very clear picture of what’s really happened.

The Bible, the inspired Word of God, tells us in Genesis that the highest hills under the whole of heaven were covered by water. It’s obviously referring to a global event. If the Flood were merely local, why would Noah have had to build an Ark to save himself, his family, and the animals? They could simply have walked to another location where the floodwaters wouldn’t reach. In fact, at the end of the Flood, God put a rainbow in the sky as a sign between God and man that He would never repeat such an event. Humanity has seen numerous local floods since the time of Noah’s day, but we haven’t seen another global flood.

Not only this, but Jesus Christ Himself, in the book of Matthew, used the event of Noah’s Flood as a warning that there was going to be another judgment—but next time by fire. If Noah’s Flood was just a local event, then maybe the coming judgment by fire will be just a local event, too. No, that doesn’t make sense at all!

Was Noah’s Flood worldwide? Yes, it absolutely was!
