2 Sam. 12:1-7
Pastor Rick
Jackson
I. THE
MAN YOU ARE:
1. Is a Sinner by Birth [Ps. 51:5]
Behold, I
was shapen in iniquity,; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
2. Is a Sinner
by Choice [2 Sam. 12:7, 9]
-And Nathan
said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed
thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
-Wherefore
hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou
hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy
wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
3. Is a Saint
by Reception [Rm. 4:4-8, Jn. 1:12]
Now to him
that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that
worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is
counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the
man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are
they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the
man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
II. THE
MAN OF SIN: [2 Th. 2]
1. Revealed Between
the Rapture and the Touchdown Coming [2 Th. 2:1-3, 5-8a]
2. Revels in
Self and Rebellion [2 Th. 2:3a-4]
3. Ruins
Himself and Others by Following Satan [2 Th. 2:8-12]
III. THE
MAN YOU NEED:
1. Christ is
The Man by Incarnation [Phil. 2:4-8]
Look not
every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let
this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of
God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no
reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the
likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and
became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
2. Christ is
The Man by His Vicarious Death [1 Tm. 2:5-6]
For there is
one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who
gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
3. Christ is
the Man by His Victorious Resurrection [1 Cor. 15:12-23]
Now if
Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that
there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the
dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our
preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false
witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ:
whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise
not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is
vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ
are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men
most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the
firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also
the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall
all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits;
afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
