MATTHEW 27:22 - Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. MAKE JESUS CHRIST YOUR SAVIOUR!
1. He Came for You [1 Timothy 1:15]
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
2. He Died for You [Romans 5:6, 8; 1 Cor. 15:3]
-For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ
died for the ungodly.
-But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
-For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also
received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
3. He Rose for You [Philippians 3:10, 1 Peter 1:3]
-That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and
the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
-Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope
by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
II. MAKE JESUS CHRIST YOUR CONFIDENCE
1. And You Can Rejoice [Philippians 3:3]
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the
spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
2. And You Can Have Boldness & Access [Eph. 3:10-21]
To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in
heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In
whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Wherefore
I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. For
this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the
whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according
to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the
inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted
and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the
breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ,
which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or
think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the
church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
3. And You Can Get Your Prayers Answered [1 John 5:14]
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we
ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
III. MAKE JESUS CHRIST YOUR LORD
Now Jesus is Lord whether you like it or not. But, you limit
your blessings unless you consciously make Him your Lord. Illus. “Not my
president” “Not my Lord”
1. Make Jesus Lord by Doing [Luke 6:46]
-And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which
I say?
2. Make Jesus Lord by Staying with Him [John 6:60-69]
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this,
said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that
his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and
if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit
that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you,
they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not.
For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who
should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come
unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his
disciples went back , and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the
twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom
shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure
that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
3. Make Jesus Lord by Remembering the Bible [James 1:22-25]
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like
unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and
goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso
looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a
forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his
deed.
Philippians 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the
earth; And that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
