HEBREWS 12:2
Pastor Rick

I. JESUS
THE BUILDER [Mark 6:1-4]
And he went
out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many
hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things?
and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works
are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the
brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters
here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A
prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin,
and in his own house.
1. He Built
the Universe [John 1:1-3, 10, Heb.3:4]
- In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The
same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without
him was not any thing made that was made.
- He was in
the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
- For every
house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
2. He is
Building the Church [Mt. 16:16-18, 1 Peter 2:5]
- And Simon
Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And
Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh
and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And
I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my
church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
-Ye also, as
lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up
spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
3. He is
Building a City [Heb. 11:10, 16] a city without hospitals, jails, dentist
offices, etc.
-For he (Abraham)
looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
-But now
they (believers) desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God
is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
II. JESUS
THE GREAT PHYSICIAN [Luke 4:21-23, 40]
-And he
began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. And
all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of
his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son? And he said unto them, Ye
will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we
have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
-Now when
the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought
them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
1. The Blood
Prescribed [Heb. 9:6-10]
2. The Blood
Supplied [Heb. 9:11-26]
3. The Blood
Applied [Heb. 9:27-28, 10:10, 14, 17-23, 38-39]
III.
JESUS THE FAITHFUL [2 Th. 3:3, 2 Tm. 2:13]
-But the
Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
-If we
believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
1. The
Faithful High Priest [Heb. 2:17, 10:23]
-Wherefore
in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might
be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make
reconciliation for the sins of the people.
-He is
faithful that promised
2. The
Faithful Witness [Revelation 1:5, 3:14]
-Jesus
Christ, who is the faithful witness
- These
things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness
3. The
Faithful Captain [Hebrews 2:10, Revelation 19:11]
-For it
became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing
many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through
sufferings.
-And I saw
heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called
Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
