Deuteronomy 7:9
Pastor Rick
Jackson
Know
therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth
covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a
thousand generations;
I. GOD IS
FAITHFUL
1. To Finish
What He Started [1 Cor. 1:8-9, Phil. 1:6, 1 Th. 5:23-24]
-Who shall
also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord
Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of
his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
- Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will
perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
-And the
very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and
soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
2. To Not
Let Us Be Overly Tempted [1 Cor. 10:13, 2 Th. 3:3]
-There hath
no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who
will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
-But the
Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
3. He Cannot
Deny Himself [2 Tm. 2:10-13]
Therefore I
endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the
salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. It is a faithful saying:
For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall
also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not,
yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
II. JESUS
THE FAITHFUL [2 Th. 3:3, 2 Tm. 2:13]
1. The
Faithful High Priest [Heb. 2:17, 3:1-2, 10:23, 1 John 1:9]
- Wherefore
in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might
be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make
reconciliation for the sins of the people.
- Wherefore,
holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High
Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed
him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
- Let us
hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful
that promised;
- If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2. The
Faithful Witness [Rev. 1:5, 3:14]
- And from
Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood,
- And unto
the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen,
the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
3. The
Faithful Captain [Heb. 2:10, Rev. 19:11]
- For it
became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing
many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through
sufferings.
- And I saw
heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called
Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
III.
CHRISTIANS ARE TO BE FAITHFUL
1. In What
God Has Entrusted Us [1 Cor. 4:1-5]
Let a man so
account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of
God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. But
with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's
judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am
I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge
nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the
hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts:
and then shall every man have praise of God.
2. In Giving
Out the Word [2 Tm. 2:2]
And the
things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to
faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3. In
Maintaining Good Works [Titus 3:8]
This is a
faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they
which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These
things are good and profitable unto men.
