THE HOLY SPIRIT - THE DIVINE SUPPLIER

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. THE HOLY SPIRIT SUPPLIES HOPE

"Now the God of hope fill you with joy and peace in believing that ye may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit" Rom 15:13.

1. THE DEFINITION OF HOPE-to anticipate with joy!

"In the New Testament it is favorable and confident expectation. It has to do with the unseen and the future, Rom 8:24, 25. Hope describes the happy anticipation of good." -W.E. Vine

In hope of eternal life, which God; that cannot lie, promised before the world began. Titus 1:2

2. THE DYNAMIC OF HOPE-only with the true God!

Remember, that ye being gentiles in the flesh,...were without Christ,,, having no hope and without God (the God of hope) in the world. Eph. 2:12.

The hope of the gospel. Col 1:23.

The hope and resurrection of the dead. Acts 26:3.

The living hope 1 Pet 1:3,

The hope of the glory of God. Rom 5:2.

The blessed hope. Titus 2:13.

3. THE DELIVERER OF HOPE- the sweet Holy Spirit of God [Rm. 15:13]

III. THE HOLY SPIRIT SUPPLIES DELIVERANCE

Philippians 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

1. A GOOD ACCEPTATION [1:12-18]

Paul's attitude is one of continual rejoicing and of expectation also of God's deliverance. the word salvation apparently refers not to eternal salvation, which of course he already possessed, but deliverance in the sense of release from imprisonment and the custody of the imperial government. -Alfred Martin, Moody Bible Institute

2. A GOOD SUPPLICATION [1:19]

"Ye have not because ye ask not" James 4:2.

Just as Asa was not healed because "in his disease he sought not the Lord, but the physicians" 2 Chron. 16:12. Nothing wrong with going to physicians but you must go to God first and foremost as well. So with our deliverance from problems, too many run to men for help and wisdom but not consciously depending, first and foremost, on the Holy Spirit. -S.W.

3. A GOOD EXPECTATION [1:20]

His circumstances being what they were, he expresses confidence that because of their prayers and "the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ" he will experience salvation. By this he means God's total deliverance, not only spiritual but from the prison. -John F. Walvoord

Learn this, the Holy Spirit can bring about your 'salvation' from what ever problem you have as well. When have you thought about and sought the Holy Spirit ministering to you to bring about your salvation from your problems? I am totally convinced that multitudes of Christians, just do not realize the Holy Spirit's ministry in every thing in our lives. -Sumner Wemp

III. THE HOLY SPIRIT SUPPLIES BOLDNESS

1. IN CONNECTION WITH THE FILLING OF THE SPIRIT [Acts 4:8-13]

2. IN CONNECTION WITH THE WORD OF GOD [Acts 4:29-31]

3. IN CONNECTION WITH PRAYER [Eph. 6:18-20]

Once again I must thank my friend, Sumner Wemp, for much of this material. The Truths I have heard for years but the consolidation and arrangement is largely his. Check out his website using the link in the upper left.
