I LOVE THE LORD

PSALM 116:1

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. FOR THE TRANSACTION

1. The Preservation of the Saints [v. 6, 2 Tm. 1:12, 1 Pt. 1:5]

-For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

-Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

2. The Prominence of Simplicity [v. 6, 19:7, 1 Cor. 1:26-31, Luke 18:17]

-The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

-For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

- Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

3. The Path of Salvation [v. 5-6, 79:8]

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

II. FOR THE TRACK

1. Return to Rest [v. 7, 1-4, Mt. 11:28]

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

2. Realize it’s Personal [v. 7, 1-4, 6-7, Rm. 10:8-13]

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

3. Redeemed by the Bountiful Lord [v. 1-7]

III. FOR THE THREE-FOLD DELIVERANCE

1. Soul from Death [v. 8-9, 3-4, Rm. 6:23, Rev. 2:11, 20:6]

- For the wages of sin is death;

- He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

- Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power,

2. Eyes from Tears [v. 8, Isaiah 25:8, Rev. 7:17, 21:4]

- He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

- For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes

- And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

3. Feet from Falling [v. 8-9, 56:13, 1 Cor. 10:12-13, Jude 24]

- For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

- Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

- Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
