THE DEVIL’S MALEVOLENT METHODS

GENESIS 3:1-13

I. SATAN MINIMIZES [Gn. 3:1-4]

1. The Importance of the Word of God [v. 1] if he can get you to do this…

2. The Loving Provision of God [v. 2-4, 2:8-9]

3. The Horrible Penalty for Sin [v. 4, Rm. 6:23, Eph. 2:1, Jm. 1:15]

- For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

- And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins:

- sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

 

II. SATAN MAXIMIZES [Gn. 3:1-6]

1. Negatives Over Positives [v. 1-5] all he wanted to talk about was what they couldn’t do

2. Self over the Saviour [v. 5]

3. Desires over Duties [v. 6, 2:15-18, Jm. 1:15] restrictions over responsibilities

- Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

 

III. SATAN DENIES [Gn. 3:1-7]

1. The Truth of the Word [v. 4, Jn. 8:44, 14:6, 17:17]

interesting how the father of lies wants you to not believe the Truth

- Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

- Jesus saith unto him, I am the way , the truth

- Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

2. The Goodness of God [v. 5, Rm. 2:4]

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

3. The Divine Order [v. 1, 6-7, 1 Tm. 2:12-14, Titus 1:5-6, 2:3-5]
