Deuteronomy 4
Pastor Rick
Jackson
I. THE
REVELATION – The BIBLE –
Basic
Instructions Before Leaving Earth
1. The
Primacy of the Word
[v. 1-6, Pr.
30:5-6, Rev. 22:18-19]
- Every word
of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou
not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
- For I
testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If
any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that
are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the
book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life,
and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
2. The
Privilege of the Word [v.
7-9a, Rm. 3:1-2]
- What
advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? Much
every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
3. The
Potential of the Word [v. 9b-20]
II. THE
RESPONSIBILITY [v. 21-31]
1. Of Godly
Leaders [v. 21-22, James 3:1]
My brethren,
be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
2. Of God’s
People [v. 23-28, 1 Pt. 3:15-17]
But sanctify
the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man
that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of
evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in
Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well
doing, than for evil doing.
3. Of
Backsliders [v. 29-31, Rev. 7:14]
v. 30 is the
first mention of the Tribulation
And I said
unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out
of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the
blood of the Lamb.
III. THE
REASONABLENESS [v. 32-49]
1. Remember
[v. 32-40]
v. 37 is the
first time God was said to love men – showed previously but not said
2. Refuge
[v. 41-43]
3.
Repetition [v. 44-49]
