MT. 28:1-10
Pastor Rick
Jackson
I. THE
RESURRECTION PROVES THE DEITY OF CHRIST
1. According
to David & Peter [Acts 2:22-34, Ps. 16, 22, 110]
2. According
to Jesus [Mt. 12:38-40]
Then certain
of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a
sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous
generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but
the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in
the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in
the heart of the earth.
3. According
to Paul [Rom. 1:1-4]
PAUL, a
servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning
his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to
the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the
spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
II. THE
RESURRECTION PROVES THE SUFFICIENCY OF CHRIST’S ATONEMENT
1. The
Resurrection Proves the Bible [1 Cor. 15:12-15]
Now if
Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that
there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the
dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our
preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false
witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ:
whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
2. The
Resurrection Proves that Sins are Forgiven [1 Cor. 15:16-17]
For if the
dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your
faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
3. The
Resurrection Proves that Heaven is Real [1 Cor. 15:18-20]
Then they
also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we
have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen
from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
III. THE RESURRECTION PROVIDES THE PURPOSE OF
CHRISTIANITY
1. The
Resurrection Provides the Peace of Salvation [John 20:19-21a]
Then the
same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut
where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood
in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said,
he showed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when
they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you:
2. The
Resurrection Provides the Ongoing Task of Soul-winning [John 20:21]
Then said
Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send
I you.
3. The
Resurrection Provides the Indwelling Spirit of God [John 20:19, 22, 7:39]
Then the
same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut
where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood
in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
And when he
had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy
Ghost:
(But this
spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the
Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
