III. CHRISTIANS’
POWERFUL EXAMPLE
1. Be Willing to Answer the Call [v. 1]
Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will
make you fishers of men.
Matthew 9:9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a
man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him,
Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after
me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
John 1:43 The day following Jesus would go forth into
Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they
follow me:
John 21:19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should
glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
2. Be a Volunteer for Jesus [Isaiah 6:8]
Matthew 8:19-22 And a certain scribe came, and said unto
him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto
him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of
man hath not where to lay his head. And another of his disciples said unto him,
Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow
me; and let the dead bury their dead.
Luke 18:18-30
John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where
I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father
honour.
3. Be Certain God Knows You and Your Labor [1 Corinthians
15:58]
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour
is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work of
faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in
the sight of God and our Father;
Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work
and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have
ministered to the saints, and do minister.
