When Simon Peter was privileged by the Spirit of God to write what we have as 8 chapters in our Bibles. He doesn’t even get in 10 verses in 1 Peter 1 before he is talking about the second coming of Jesus Christ and in every chapter he writes he mentions some aspect of the Lord’s return culminating in the last Bible chapter Peter would ever write where he, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, gives us what I have termed the Second Coming Beatitudes.
1. BE MINDFUL [v. 1-2]
-it’s stirring [v. 1]
-it’s Scriptural [v. 2]
-it’s serious [v. 2]
2. BE NOT IGNORANT [v. 3-
-know that there will be scoffers [v. 3-4]
-know that they are willing ignorant [v. 5-6]
-know that God is long-suffering and sure [v. 7-9]
3. BE HOLY [v. 10-11] it’s all about what lasts
4. BE DILIGENT [v. 12-14]
-it’s God’s day [v. 12]
-it’s God’s Word [v. 13]
-it’s God’s way [v. 14]
5. BEWARE [v. 15-18]
-don’t be unlearned & unstable [v. 15-16]
-don’t be misled [v. 17]
-don’t be stagnate [v. 17b-18]
