Psalm 135:18 "They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them." No god you can make is worthy of the name. You may make idols with mouths, eyes, and ears, but "they speak not . . . they see not . . . they hear not." The Bible even says, "They that make [idols] are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them." The truth is, you are going to be as able as the God or god you serve. Is that good or bad? If you are serving a god that cannot hear, that is bad. If you are serving the infinite God of the universe, that is good! You probably will not worship a small statue today, but perhaps you are tempted to worship the god of money. You can solve a lot of problems with money, but there are more problems you cannot solve with money. You are only as strong as the god you serve. On the other hand, you won't find the end of God's ability, love, and provision. "Is any thing too hard for the LORD?" (Genesis 18:14) You can trust the character, ability, and grace of God. Psalm 135:5 says, "For I know that the LORD is great, and that our LORD is above all gods." There is no comparison to God Almighty! If you are overwhelmed and underpowered, you are serving a god that is just like you. |
