Q: What can earth's iron core tell us about the past?

A: Though the earth's core is impossible to observe directly, indirect methods of assessing the nature of earth's depths have provided a great deal of information. For example, we observe that the predominantly iron core is separate from the stony mantle about 1,800 miles down, with the center of the earth at almost 4,000 miles beneath our surface.
Because secular scientists presuppose that the the early earth was covered in a magma ocean, they look for a mechanism to explain the differentiation of iron from the overlying mantle. Recent observations of iron at high pressure and high temperature suggest that iron within the solid mantle could have formed rivulets that could coalesce and flow toward the planet's core (through a process called percolation).
However, this explanation is pure conjecture and contradicts the biblical account that the earth was covered with water rather than an ocean of molten rock (magma). Furthermore, God declares that by Day Three the earth's mantle and core were in place by His creative design, not by millions of years of slow random percolation of molten iron.
