Eliphaz was wrong about many things but he hit the nail on the head with this statement. It does seem that way does it not? In fact of the much that his "friends" said Job totally agreed with this statement and said,
Job 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
I. RESIGN YOURSELF TO TROUBLE!
1. We live amongst imperfect people as an imperfect person [Rm. 3:23, 7:14-23]
2. We live in an imperfect, sin-cursed world [Rm. 8:18-23]
3. We live a life beset by an unrelenting, terrible foe [I Pet. 5:8]
II. RESIGN YOURSELF TO THE TRUTH!
1. We cannot handle the trouble ourselves [I Pt. 5:7, II Cor. 12:9]
2. We must remember we are dead to this world [Col. 1-3]
3. We must live like we are dead [Col. 3:4-10ff.]
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
III. RE-SIGN YOURSELF TO THE TRUTH!
1. RE-SIGN yourself to trust the Truth (Christ, Jn. 14:6)
-for eternal life [Jn. 1:12, 6:68]
-for the details in daily life [Rm. 8:28]
2. RE-SIGN yourself to live the Truth
Here the advice of Mary in John 2:5 is so true. "His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it."
In salvation, baptism, church membership, Bible reading & memorization, etc.
3. RE-SIGN yourself to bask in the Truth [Gal. 2:20]
