THE GOD WE SERVE

I. THE GOD WE SERVE IS FANTASTIC!

He is unique. He is singular. There isn't anyone or anything like Him.

1. GOD ALONE IS IRREPLACEABLE!

A few years ago a businessman told the manager of one of his stores that only one person in that business was irreplaceable. The manager wisely and Scripturally reminded him, none but God is irreplaceable. Presidents come and go, even countries rise and fall, great prophets and Apostles go to their eternal destiny and the work of God continues. The Pastor is not irreplaceable. No position or person is- save God alone.

Exodus 15:11 Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

2. GOD IS IRREDUCIBLE!

People can be brought down low, humbled and disgraced but not so with the Lord.

1 Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

He is bigger than our problems.

3. GOD IS IRREFUTABLE! [IS. 45:18-23]

The hymnwriter Joseph Scriven wrote:

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

II. THE GOD WE SERVE IS FAITHFUL! [1 Thessalonians 5:18-24]

1. GOD THE FATHER IS FAITHFUL! Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Hosea 11:12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

2. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT IS FAITHFUL! 1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

3. GOD THE SON IS FAITHFUL! 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

III. THE GOD WE SERVE WILL NOT FORSAKE US!

1. GOD THE FATHER WILL NOT FORSAKE US! Deuteronomy 4:31 (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

Psalm 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

2. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL NOT FORSAKE US! [Ephesians 4:30]

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

3. GOD THE SON WILL NOT FORSAKE US! [Hebrews 13:5-7]

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer. Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.
