I. TRUE
SPIRITUALITY BEGINS WITH A SACRIFICE [Ex. 12:3-5]
1. A Lamb
[v. 3, Hebrews 9:22]
…without
shedding of blood is no remission.
2. The Lamb
-v. 4, Jn. 1:29, 35-36]
-The next
day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which
taketh away the sin of the world.
- Again the
next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; And looking upon Jesus as
he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
3. Your Lamb
[v. 5, Jn. 1:10-14]
He was in
the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came
unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to
them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his
name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the
will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and
we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth.
II. TRUE
SPIRITUALITY BEGINS WITH SALVATION [Ex. 12:6-20]
1. The Blood
Must Be Applied [v. 6-7, Rev. 1:5-6]
And from
Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and
his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
2. The
Change is Activated [v. 8-14, Rm. 6:1-4]
What shall
we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid . How
shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so
many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was
raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk
in newness of life.
3. The
Character Should be Observed [v. 15-20, Rm. 6:11-13]
Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments
of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are
alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
III. TRUE
SPIRITUALITY BEGINS WITH THE SAVIOUR [Ex. 12:21-28]
1. He is The
Substitute [v. 21-22, Is. 53:4-6]
Surely he
hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he
was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and
with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have
turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of
us all.
2. He is The
Sovereign [23-27, Rev. 1:5-8]
And from
Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and
his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he
cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced
him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I
am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and
which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
3. He is
Worthy of Our Worship [v. 27, Rev. 1:17-18]
And when I
saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying
unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was
dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore , Amen; and have the keys of hell
and of death.
