MICAH 6:8
Pastor Rick
Jackson
So, what
does God require of us in order to for us to be acceptable or approved by Him?
Micah 6:8 has the answer, but what does it mean?
I. DO
JUSTLY
1. A Bible Question
[Job 25:4, Dt. 10:12]
- How then
can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
- And now,
Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy
God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God
with all thy heart and with all thy soul
2. A Bible Answer
[Ps. 143:1-4, Lk. 12:48]
- Hear my
prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me,
and in thy righteousness. And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in
thy sight shall no man living be justified. For the enemy hath persecuted my
soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in
darkness, as those that have been long dead. Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed
within me; my heart within me is desolate.
-But he that
knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few
stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and
to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
3. A Bible Solution
[Hab. 2:4, Rom. 1:17, Gal. 3:11, Heb. 10:38]
-Behold, his
soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his
faith.
-For therein
is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written ,
The just shall live by faith.
-But that no
man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just
shall live by faith.
-Now the
just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no
pleasure in him.
II. LOVE
MERCY (in loving it
we must…)
1. Embrace
it Personally [Titus 3:5-7]
Not by works
of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by
the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on
us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his
grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
2. Rejoice
in the Saviour [Luke 1:46-47]
And Mary
said, My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my
Saviour.
3. Share the
Message [2 Cor. 4:1-7]
- Therefore
seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have
renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor
handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth
commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our
gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world
hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the
glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For
we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants
for Jesus sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath
shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in
the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that
the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
III. WALK
HUMBLY WITH THY GOD
1. Walk to
Him (salvation) [2 Cor. 5:7, 17, 21]
-For we walk
by faith, not by sight
-Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
-For he hath
made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.
2. Walk with
Him (submission)
[1 Cor. 4:2;
Rm. 6:4, 1 Jn. 1:6-7]
-It is
required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
- Therefore
we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up
from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life.
- If we say
that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the
truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all
sin.
3. Walk for
Him (service) [Eph. 2:8-10, 4:1]
- For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we
should walk in them.
- I
therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the
vocation wherewith ye are called,
