A very dear friend of mine, Louis Zuckerman, had spent eight years in a school of the Talmud preparing to be a Jewish Rabbi before leaving Russia for the United States. In Chicago, this Hebrew scholar taught in the Hebrew Institute. But familiar as he was with the Old Testament in the original Hebrew, he had never noticed Micah 5:2, promising that the Messiah should be born in Bethlehem in Judea, until he heard it in the First Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas.
He stormed out of the church declaring that the preacher was a liar and was deceiving the people, that no such promise was in the Old Testament. But back in his room he looked in his Hebrew Old Testament, and there it was!
As a result of that verse, he was convinced that Christ was the Messiah, and he accepted Him as his Saviour and soon became my intimate fried and was often in my home. - John R. Rice

In every detail Jesus died exactly as had been prophesied that the Messiah should die in the Old Testament prophecies written hundreds of years before! That could be no accident. Only a supernatural revelation from God could foretell hundreds of years ahead of time so many literal, accurate details without a single error.

REJOICING OR REGRETTING?

Far too many Christians seem to regret their faith rather than rejoice in it. Some think God delights in the dour, somber, and pathetic displays of sadness. That's NOT what the Bible teaches! Why not rejoice as the Bible says? What about when things go bad? What about when loved ones go to be with Jesus? What about when people don't understand you? What about "whatever" or "blah blah blah" or "this or that"? Rejoice as the Bible says. God helping us, let us rejoice in:

I. SALVATION

1. The Relationship with Him (Lk. 1:47, 10:20, Phil. 3:1, 3:3, 4:10)

2. The Fellowship with Him (Rm. 5:1-2, I Jn. 1:3-4)

3. The Lordship of Him (Lk. 10:20-21, Acts 16:34, I Pt. 1:3-5)

II. TRIBULATION

1. For His sake (Mt. 5:11-12)

2. For His work (Ph. 2:17-18)

3. For Him (I Pet. 4:12-13)

III. EXPECTATION

1. God's leading (Genesis 24:26-27, Mt. 2:10)

2. God's Working (Lk. 10:21, 19:37, II Cor. 7:7, 9)

3. God's Glory (Jn. 3:29, 8:56, 14:28, 15:8)

Our ignorance of God does not diminish His power.

Exodus 5:2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go. God's Power We are living in the day of the greatest Bible illiteracy of any time in our country's history. People know little about God. This is not completely new. In Moses' day, Pharaoh was the ruler of the known world. He had many gods, and he knew much about them. But he knew nothing about God Jehovah. So, when God sent Moses to tell Pharaoh to let God's people go, Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go." He didn't know God, and he certainly didn't think God knew him. The Bible calls Pharaoh the "king of Egypt" in verse 4. In verse 6 it talks about Pharaoh's commands, and we find out about the brutality and ruthlessness of Pharaoh in the following verses. In other words, Pharaoh was a man used to getting his own way because he was his own authority, the king of Egypt. He gave the commands. He was the one in control, but God was about to reveal Himself to Pharaoh. There is an important truth here. Our ignorance of God does not diminish His power. Pharaoh wouldn't listen to Moses because Pharaoh didn't listen to God. He said, "Who is the Lord, that I should obey Him?" All this was about to change. God's people were about to follow, Pharaoh's country was about to come to its knees, and all that was going to happen was because of God's power through the submission of people like Moses. Moses' greatest and only power was when he said, "Thus saith the Lord." Today, spend less time thinking about your own intrinsic power and innate authority, and spend your time making sure that you are living in complete submission to God. Whether people acknowledge God or not, He is powerful, and He works through the submission of His people. August 2, 2016 The Fossils' Tale "Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished." (2 Peter 3:6)   Billions of dead creatures are entombed in cubic miles of water-deposited rock layers. The story they tell is hotly debated in our educational institutions. But one thing is very clear—sometime in our planet's past "all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died" (Genesis 7:21-22).   If life sprang into being from non-life, and if that life, once generated, changed over time into more and more complex systems, then those events must have happened outside of our current environment. Since we do not find evidence of such large biological changes happening in the present, we must look to find it among the fossils preserved for us in the planet's sedimentary deposits.   At first glance, all would agree that these enormous deposits speak of a vast water catastrophe that inundated the entire planet. The Bible tells us that such a planet-covering water catastrophe did take place (Genesis 7:11-12, 19).   Those who refuse to accept the biblical record must deny that such a flood ever took place. They must also attempt to tell a story (without God in the story) of processes and conditions that could produce the worldwide deposits of sedimentary rock and the billions of fossils they contain. Job understood that we should "speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?" (Job 12:8-9).
