Psalm 94:1-2 "O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud."
God Is Judge
If you could rob God of anything, what would it be? That question is a bit repulsive, isn't it? The truth is, robbing God is not an impossible concept. Psalm 94 reminds us that robbing God of enemies that belong to Him is never a wise thing to do.
It is easy to think, "If God would take care of this, I wouldn't be tempted to do it myself." Well, that is exactly your problem! God's timing is impeccable. He is not early; He is not late; He is right on time. You can trust God with your enemies or problems, just as certainly that you can trust Him with your money, your life, and your eternity. It is a matter of faith.
God is called the "judge of the earth" in verse 2. That means, first of all, He will reward the proud. Don't steal God's judgment of the proud; He will take care of them! Second of all, God will take care of His own. Verse 12 says, "Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked." There is a difference between God's judgment of the wicked and His chastisement of His children. On a human level, there is a difference between shooting an intruder and spanking a son. God takes care of His children!
Third of all, as judge of the earth, God defends the innocent. Verse 22 says, "But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge." When you are innocent, and you do not try to steal God's vengeance, God will be your Defender. God is Judge, and it is wonderful thing when we recognize it and allow Him to do so in our lives!
