I. GOD‘S TURN [v. 1-3]

1. God has turned the Captivity of Saints [v. 1 godly Israel, Romans 7:23 Christians]

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

2. God has Turned toward the Saints [v. 2, Psalm 60:1]

O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.

3. God has Turned away from His Anger [v. 3, Psalm 78:38]

But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

II. OUR TURN

1. Seek the Lord’s Help in Pleasing Him [v. 4, Ephesians 5:10]

Lamentations 3:40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

2. Seek the Lord’s Blessing in Revival [v. 5-7, Hosea 14:2]

Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

3. Seek God’s Word for His Way and His Will [v. 8, 2 Chronicles 29:10]

Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

III. THE RIGHT TURNS

1. Turn to the Way of Salvation [v. 9, Hebrews 9:28]

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Psalm 80:3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Psalm 80:7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Psalm 80:19 Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

2. Turn to the Way of Blessing [v. 10-12, 2 Chronicles 7:14]

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 30:9 For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

3. Turn to the Way of Peace [v. 13, Proverbs 11:5]

The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
Proverbs 12:28 In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
Proverbs 15:9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
Proverbs 16:31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
Matthew 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us ° wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
2 Peter 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
